Explore the Mangroves of Rio de Janeiro in a Private Tour with a Biologist Guide
If you are a nature lover, like myself, let's explore off the beaten path wonders in the city of Rio de Janeiro!
We will have a scenic drive to the West Zone of Rio, along the beaches of Leblon, São Conrado and Barra da Tijuca. We will spot the largest favela in Latin America - Rocinha - with a population of more than 73,000 people. We will spot the landing area of paragliders and hang gliders.
We will come to Gigoia Island, an isolated neighbourhood, quiet and charming in the middle of the buzz of the gigantic city of Rio.
We will take a boat tour around Gigoia Island for 30min, where you can spot Caimans (aligators), Capibaras and many mangrove birds in wild.
We can explore the beautiful little alleys of this preserved and quiet neighborhood, and stop for a coffee or lunch in one of the delicious restaurants of the island.
P.S.: For an extra cost, it is also possible to take a full day (6h) tour in the lagoons of the West Zone and explore the mangroves in a totally deserted area. Ask me how.
